What is a digital time capsule?
A digital time capsule is something you seal today that can't be opened until a date you set. incove calls its version an Echo: a message left today, sealed together with a video. You can lock it from one day up to five years (six months by default), and it stays sealed until that day. The contents are end-to-end encrypted and unreadable to incove's servers, which only control when it is delivered — so the capsule really is shut, not just hidden behind a screen.

An Echo left for someone else is held by the server, which will not hand over the ciphertext before the day arrives. An Echo you leave for yourself is your own record, so the server has no reason to withhold it — the app simply does not open it until that day. Either way the contents are end-to-end encrypted, so the server never learns what they say.
